Matchday Round-Up: Machans Secure First Win with Clean Sweep, Bengaluru FC Triumph Over Jamshedpur in eISL Matchweek 3 Day 1

Day 1 of Matchweek 3 saw the Machans sweeping the Mariners to register their first win in the eISL this season. Bengaluru FC found their footing once again to secure their second win after beating Jamshedpur FC 2-1.

The first fixture saw the Mariners host Chennaiyin FC in what promised to be an exciting encounter. ATK Mohun Bagan represent, Afnan, went up against Tikkatown aka Karman Tikka in the opening game. Tikka took an early lead, scoring within the first few minutes of the match. However, Afnan was quick to respond, managing to net an impressive equalizer just before the 40th-minute mark. The second half resumed with Afnan taking the lead with a well-executed goal right at the start of the half. However, Tikkatown refused to back down and managed to find the equalizer shortly after. The game remained evenly matched until the 60th minute when Tikka scored a stunning goal, giving Chennaiyin FC their first win of the evening. In the co-op game, Afnan and Vicky teamed up to face off against Tikkatown and Navin of Chennaiyin FC. The game started off on a positive note for the Machans as they managed to score an early goal, putting them ahead in the game. However, the Mariners were quick to respond, scoring an equalizer at the 22nd minute, ensuring that the game remained tightly contested. The Machans continued to show their attacking prowess and once again managed to take the lead just before halftime. In the second half, both teams came out strong, determined to take the lead. The game took an unexpected turn when Chennaiyin FC were caught off guard, resulting in a penalty for the Mariners duo. ATKMB made no mistake and converted the penalty, leveling the score once again. However, Tikkatown and Navin were not to be deterred and managed to score two more goals, sealing the game for Chennaiyin FC with a full-time scoreline of 4-2. The third game of the fixture saw Vicky, representing ATK Mohun Bagan, take on Chennayin FC's Navin. The game got off to an exciting start, with Vicky taking an early lead. However, Navin was quick to respond, scoring an equalizer to level the score. Vicky managed to take the lead once again at the 30th-minute mark. However, Navin, determined to get his team back into the game, again responded well, scoring another equalizer for the Machans. The second half began with both teams displaying great attacking intent, trying to break the deadlock. However, it was Chennayin FC who managed to find the winning goal, capitalizing on a good build-up to secure their first clean sweep of the season and their first win in the eISL this season.

The second and final fixture of the day saw the Blues playing away to Jamshedpur FC. The opening match of the day featured JFC's Arvind squaring off against Bengaluru FC's CJ12 in what promised to be an exciting encounter. The game started off well for the Blues as CJ12 managed to take the lead in the first half. However, Arvind was not to be outdone and was gifted an equalizer, courtesy of CJ12's own goal. Despite the setback, Charanjot remained focused and managed to find the back of the net three more times, taking the goal tally to four and securing a comfortable victory for the Blues in the first game. The co-op game between Bengaluru FC and the Red Miners promised to be an intense encounter. The first half was a tight affair, with neither team able to break the deadlock, resulting in a goalless scoreline at halftime. However, the second half saw Bengaluru FC come out all guns blazing to find the back of the net three times, showcasing their attacking prowess in some fashion. Despite a late consolation goal for the Red Miners, CJ12 and  Sagnik held on to their lead to secure a well-deserved victory. The final game of the day featured an exciting encounter between BFC's Sagnik and Jamshedpur FC's Darvesh aka Deekay. The game started with a bang as Darvesh scored a stunning free kick goal just three minutes into the game, becoming the first player to score a free kick goal in the eISL this season. Despite BFC's efforts to get back into the game, Deekay managed to extend Jamshedpur's lead by scoring another goal and securing the only win of the day for the Red Miners.
